Current Environment The IT Division supports over 800 employees and more than a thousand devices including desktop computers, laptops, printers, network equipment such as switches, firewalls, routers, wireless access points, and phones. In addition to over 100 virtual and physical applications servers, shared files servers, and 5 virtual datacenters city-wide. Public Safety makes up more than half the city’s employees and over 300 plus desktop and mobile computers with two datacenters consisted of over 45 servers hosting various software applications and systems, as well as the Police Department’s CAD enterprise software systems. The Fire Department’s applications servers, shared folders, and files are currently collocated with the rest†¦show more content†¦Their outcomes include reducing casualties and the loss of life, improving patient outcomes, reducing property loss and damage, achieving successful extrication of trapped victims, and protecting the environment from hazardous materials. Information technology products and services are critical to the Fire Department’s daily business operation as IT provides the connection between Fresno County Emergency Medical Services and the Fire Department’s primary systems: computer-aided dispatch (CAD), SMS, and FireRMS integrations, GIS emergency coordination and custom mapping services, FireHouse Inspection and Prevention, and WorkForce Telestaff—roster/scheduling system. The Fire Department relies upon other technologies including mobile data computers, radios, iPads, fire station alerting such as overhead paging, and internal and external websites for cloud service solutions—trainings and procedures. The Fire Department also uses collaboration tools such as Current Environment audio, video, and web conferencing to reduce the amount of time that firefighters need to travel to the main office for training and other general-purpose meetings. Police Department The Police Department safeguards lives and property and enhances public safety.
